Some friends did actually dub me Hatred Hammer awhile back, playing off my generally 'cheery' dissposition. I secertly love it.
Tegaki still is proving to be both infuriating and fun. Most recent note-worthy moment, I drew basically a Year Zero fanart 'cause I had been excited for seeing Nine Inch Nails in concert and I got someone asking if (I assume) it had to do with Hellsing. Really? Not that I'd figure anyone would pickup on what it was, but- Really?

I got a Tegaki a while ago, but never posted anything on it because the application is crud. About a week ago I went back to it and got the idea to try and use the limitations of the application to work on things like color and a more painterly approach to digital drawings (you know, the idea of laying down rough color shapes and building on them and refining them). Granted there's nothing painterly about what I've posted so far, but it's something kinda different.

I wasn't planning to admit having the blog yet, but I just thought this drawing was cute.

Forgive the crappy picture, I didn't want to scan it as I though it might ruin the look of the blood embroidery. This was a birthday present for a friend. He doesn't read FAMIB, but has wanted something of nightmare Wollen since he saw this painting awhile ago.

Also, no FAMIB update this week, 'cause it's gross and hot here. The feeling of being sticky and having the paper stick to my hand makes drawing not fun. I'll try to compensate with two pages next week.

Few people have been wondering about Toma's new hand in the latest FAMIB pages. I don't blame them since as usual I kinda shove things into the spotlight before explaining them. I'm not so good at this whole story-telling thing, I'm more about drawing pretty things and setting up melodrama. So, new hand. I'm aiming for a burn scar/skin graft look.

I've been trying to find time to do more small watercolors again. This one was really quick and I think it shows, especially in that I didn't quite know what I was trying to do for a background.

Some friends of mine went out of town for the weekend and gave me the keys to their apartment to look after their cats. Saturday night I got stuck there longer than expected thanks to a massive thunderstorm making it not so wise to bike home, but thankfully I had some art supplies to keep myself occupied.

Note: the trees were already there, it's the branches' occupants that were my doing.

They're kookaburras, which surprisingly isn't quite as random as it might seem.
Now I just wish I had done them on better paper and actually bothered to erase the pencil lines as it sounds like my friends loved them upon their discovery, so they'll probably be sticking around for awhile.

Also, there's the usual new FAMIB.

Finally finished off the next chapter cover. I was kinda underwhelemed by it till I colored it, especially this last panel of SkullBunny. Now I'm kinda loving it.
Two weeks till an actual comic update, though. The fact that spring has finally graced us around here has given me the fortitude of an ADHD addeled 11 year old, so instead of dutifully working on thumbnails I find myself constantly calling friends up to go ride bikes.

I like to use Tomas' little nightmare world as an excuse to try drawing somewhat differently and this is me trying to feel out something new. He's fun to kinda draw more cartoony because he is just a kid and his design is a lot more simplified already. I do still struggle with making him not too tall and leggy though. He's supposeed to be really short, but it never comes across.

Almost all the usual characters have a new look in the next chapter of FAMIB which means a lot of sketching and then on top of that there is Heike, a brand new character all together. Usually I hate cowboy boots, or cowboy anything really, but I thought I could make an exception here.

Of the couple leftover watercolors that didn't sell on Etsy, this one is the only one I don't really want:

If anyone wants it, they can have it for $4, which is basically enough to cover shipping, packaging and some change. It's 5x7 in real life, on decent watercolor paper, and it fits nicely in a standard pre-fab frame.
So, reply below if you're willing to take it off my hands.

There's a miniscule reference to Wrey's younger sister Jay in a future FAMIB page and so I felt the urge to draw her. I did draw her without looking back at any old drawings, but that's probably for the better. Too bad she's really inconsiquential to the story, 'cause she's cute and her hair is fun to draw.

New page finally up.

Last summer I actually tried to make a project out of re-drawing the Wrey|Wollen|Sein fight scene from early on in the story. I just thought it was an important enough scene in the story so far that it could stand to be made a little more readable and understandable, and I thought it'd be a fun challenge. I even went so far as redesigning Wrey's Ei form and start thumbnailing it. Sadly, it never got further than that.

I've been doing so much drawing lately and hadn't done anything digital, painterly, or in color for forever. This is a horrible malgamation of all three. Still have a ways to go on it, I'll probably start over on her clothes as I don't like the outfit. And then I still have to do the background... and then I have to smear it all with more hot pink or blaze orange, or something.

My shoulder has been fucked lately, so I've been laying off the drawing to try and give it a rest. Really the best thing I could do would be to stay off the computer, but that would kinda require me to find a new line of work, so it's drawing that gets the ax. But hey, my other shoulder is fine, surely some amount of drawing ability simply resides in knowledge and not just muscle memo-

I guess I'll just wait for my right shoulder to get better.

I do love how using a brush automatically gives a drawing a million more times character, but I've always had a tendancy to let the lines get too thick.
The -45 F windchills that are supposed to be raging outside this weekend are probably going to keep me holed up in my apartment. This should give me plenty of time to work on this mini-project I've been meaning to do for a while.

Cheap Watercolor Sale!

I'm finally trying to sell stuff on Etsy again. There's a number of different things up, some I've posted here, and lots that I haven't. So please check it out, even if you don't want to buy anything you can have fun reading the drawing descriptions. It was very tedious uploading all those drawings, I had to amuse myself somehow.

I got motivated to try this again, because I've been hit with a few unexpected bills lately, the worst being a $300 vet bill thanks to my stupid cat. So I'm just trying to recoup some fraction of it to feel less financially stupid.
I realize doing commissions might actually work better, but I have a hard time doing them. A friend tried to commision me back in May to do something for his new apartment annnnd, I still haven't done it (thankfully he never paid me.)
